Aransas National Wildlife Refuge

Butler-Cohen served as the Design-Builder for the complete redevelopment of the US Fish & Wildlife Service’s Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, after the Refuge’s original structures were heavily damaged and destroyed by Hurricane Harvey. The project consisted of several new buildings and site features, including a Main Admin Building, Volunteer Building, and Maintenance Complex consisting of several buildings and structures. All buildings utilized a combination of precast concrete panels and structural steel skeleton for enhanced durability and weather resistance.

Central to the Maintenance Complex is the Fire Cache Building, which houses the Refuge’s fire program and all related equipment. The project scope also included the design, procurement, and installation of a 180′ emergency communications tower adjacent to the new Maintenance Complex.
