Bexar County’s former jail located on the banks of the San Pedro Creek in downtown San Antonio was demolished to redevelop the area. Because the facility was closing, over 500 inmates had be transferred to Bexar County Jail’s main complex. This created the necessity for more beds and space.
To house displaced lower custody county inmates, Butler-Cohen worked with Munoz and Bexar County to design and construct a new 105,000-sf tower. This new construction contains large dormitories with ample program space designed to prepare inmates for re-entry into society and to reduce recidivism. The facility also includes a 28,000 sf processing center on the ground floor. The project was completed within estimated cost and schedule.

Good people, great conversations, and one fun week in Waco! 🤠🥃
The Butler-Cohen team was in Waco for the 104th Annual County Judges and Commissioners Association of Texas Conference, and we had such a great time connecting and catching up throughout the week.
To top it off, we hosted our After-Dinner Drinks & Cigars Social with hand-rolled cigars, live music, drinks, desserts, and great company.
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and spent the evening with us. We loved seeing so many familiar faces, meeting new ones, and making some great memories along the way.
